Keratolyse means to break apart the keratin layers.
KERATO is the prefix from the word keratin, and
LYSE means to break apart. So the purpose of keratolyse
is to BREAK APART DEAD CELL LAYERS.
Keratolyse is a vegetal cream. We call it vegetal
because its basic ingredient is cellulose. Cellulose
is the primary substance found in plant cell walls.
Cellulose has a great affinity for keratin.
Keratolyse is not an enzyme peel, nor is it an
“exfoliant”. It is important to understand
the difference between the keratolyse, an enzyme peel
and an exfoliant in order to fully appreciate the
remarkable action of the keratolyse peeling.
An enzyme peel is supposed to “eat up”
or digest the dead epidermal cells. This type of action
on the skin can be irritating and produce
sensitivity. An exfoliant, on the other hand, implies
mechanical action. There’s something in the product
that’s grainy and scrubby, and it’s not the
product itself but the grain in it PLUS the rubbing that
give the result. (Very similar to paint scraping). We do
not believe in exfoliants for the face- they are too
abrasive. We believe that keratolyse is a much better choice.
Keratolyse creates a natural attraction (or bond) between
itself and the keratin of the dead skin cells. No matter how
the keratolyse is removed you cannot help but remove a
certain amount of the dead cell layer. However, for the
maximum removal of the dead cell layer we use a gentle manual
technique…the gommage method.
Ketatolyse peeling can be used to reduce the thickness of a
sun damaged skin, to reduce pigmentary stains, to improve the
appearance of post acne scars and also stretch marks. It will
greatly improve the appearance of wrinkles by removing the dead
cell build up. The lines are softened and your products can now
reach a livelier healthier cell which, over time, is what
produces the beautiful changes in the skin. The skin is a living
organ and it will respond most graciously to proper care.
